Michael Spenceley

Michael Spenceley was born in Middlesborough and is currently based in London. He trained at the Rambert school of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, where he was awarded the prestigious Wayne Sleep scholarship.

Michael was a member of the Creative Team choreographing the opening ceremony for the London 2012 Paralympics. As a Movement Director and Choreographer, his credits include: Cosi Fan Tutte (WNO), Hansel and Gretel (Opera Holland Park), Un Ballo in Maschera (Theatre Bonn Germany, WNO),  La Forza Del Destino (WNO, Teatro Nacional de Sao Carlos), The Return of Ulysses, Anna Bolena, Ariadne auf Naxos, Alcina, Tannhauser, Xerxes (Longborough Festival Opera), I Capuleti e i Montecchi (The Arcola Theatre), Max The Brave (Britten Sinfonia), Simplicius Simplicissimus (Independent Opera),  Lady of Stavoren (Over the Pond Productions), Forbidden Love (Michael Spenceley London tour) and BBC's Cash in the Attic.

Michael has recently branched out into directing, including La Traviata and La Cenerentola with Barefoot Opera, Asbestos Hands with Bedrock Productions and Look, No Hands with Omnibus Theatre.
