Stefano La Colla
One of the most valued tenors in the international opera scene, Stefano La Colla was born in Turin in a Sicilian family, then he studied and graduated from the Conservatory “Pietro Mascagni” in Livorno. He won the First Prize at “Voci Pucciniane” competition in Torre del Lago.
After the first successes in Italian theatres, he started his international career in 2011, but the turning point was in 2015 with his stunning debut at Teatro alla Scala in Milan as Calaf in Turandot (first event of La Scala for EXPO), under the baton of Riccardo Chailly. Thanks to this great success, in June 2015 he was immediatly invited back to La Scala for Cavalleria Rusticana (Turiddu).
He has sung in some of the most prestigious opera houses in Italy and abroad, and in December 2017 he had his debut in USA performing with great acclaim the role of Calaf in Turandot at Lyric Opera of Chicago.
Other leading roles in his repertoire include Radamès in Aida, Cavaradossi in Tosca (also with Berliner Philharmoniker under the baton of Simon Rattle), Pinkerton in Madama Butterfly, Des Grieux in Manon Lescaut, Enzo Grimaldo in La Gioconda, Manrico in Il Trovatore (Staatsoper Berlin).
His most recent successes include Madama Butterfly at Royal Opera Copenhagen, Il tabarro and Madama Butterfly in Hamburg, Aida at Oper Frankfurt, Turandot at Deutsche Oper Berlin, Il trovatore at Royal Opera House Covent Garden London, Tosca at Canadian Opera Company Toronto.
