Horrific fun that is horrifically entertaining — YOUNG FRANKENSTEIN is guaranteed to be just that coming from film parody specialist Mel Brooks. Based on the film of the same name from 1974 the myth of the mad scientist and the horror film genre are spoofed to the hilt!

Dr. Frederick Frankenstein, a successful neurosurgeon from New York, embarrassed to be a Frankenstein and insisting that his name be pronounced “Frankensteen” is determined not to follow in the footsteps of his late grandfather Dr. Victor von Frankenstein, who notoriously had experimented with human corpses. When Frederick, after inheriting his grandfather’s estate, travels to Transylvania, he changes his mind and his interest in his grandfather’s work is piqued. Together with the hunchbacked Igor and his good-looking lab assistant Inga he sets out to bring a corpse back to life — thereby mistakenly creating a monster…

With numbers like The Transsylvania Mania, He Vas My Boyfriend and Puttin’ On The Ritz, the show, which opened on Broadway in 2007, reworks the myth of Doctor Frankenstein into a zany take-off on horror films — replete with hysterical complications and scary theatrical effects.
