Our children have a right to a future in democracy and the rule of law!

The »Junge Opern Rhein-Ruhr«, a unique Europe-wide initiative of the opera houses in Bonn, Dortmund, Düsseldorf/Duisburg and Essen, has been committed to introducing young people to the fascination of musical theater for over ten years with numerous opera productions, educational and participatory events. Our objective is to convey the values of democracy, openness to the world and the freedom of art to children and young people through playful and artistic suggestions as well as the joy of music and theater.

We work with artists from all over the world and perform for young audiences of all backgrounds, colors and beliefs.

Meanwhile, our democratic system is increasingly being openly threatened by groups that use strategies that despise human dignity to divide our society.
We watch the spread of right-wing extremism, racism and anti-Semitism with great concern. It is happening; hatred and agitation do not leave people unaffected, especially not young people.

We will not remain silent about this.

All over the country, people are taking to the streets for the rule of law and democracy, against hatred, racism and anti-Semitism.
We are joining them displaying solidarity, because this is not just about us, but also about the right of the next generation to be able to seize and shape their own future in self-determination and freedom. Let's stand up for this together!
